If you follow Greensboro Daily Photo, you know that we are closely monitoring the completion of the Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice (TCCP). It is our understanding that the facility is completed and it should open this month (Nov. 2026). However, the date for the ribbon cutting has not yet been released.
TCCP is located at 842 West Gate Cit Boulevard at the intersection with Tate Street. It is a 15,000-square-foot, multi-purpose cultural arts venue. There are several special features, like an immersive studio with a 40×16 foot LED wall. There are flexible galleries and performance spaces, instructional spaces, a retail space. The performance and gallery spaces are modular so that there will be options for configuring them. Their slogan is “Where Campus and Community Meet.” Another statement on their website (see HERE), is “every great idea begins with creative exchange.” Every Thursday from 12:00- 4:00pm, community members are welcome to cower, tour the space, ask questions, and learn more about the center. So often institutions of higher education (IHEs) seem like isolated enclaves set apart from the city that surrounds them. This collaborative stance seems like a win-win for the local community and the IHE community. We’re ready!
Happy Monday!
