Have you discovered Elm and Bain, one of downtown Greensboro’s distinctive event spaces? Located at 620B South Elm Street, this 11,000-square-foot venue has a history that dates to 1919, when it served as the Blue Bell Co. denim textile factory. Since 2021, it has been reimagined as a gathering place for events of all kinds.
With its concrete floors, open floor plan and unmistakably industrial character, Elm and Bain has a style all its own. The photo above captures a vintage and trendy clothing sale held this past Saturday and Sunday, with a younger, college-age crowd into town for NC A&T’s Homecoming festivities.
But don’t let the industrial look fool you! This space is a blank canvas that can be transformed to suit just about any occasion. We’ve seen it trade its urban edge for an elegant, formal atmosphere perfect for weddings and other special celebrations. That versatility is part of what makes Elm and Bain such an interesting addition to downtown.
Beyond hosting events, Elm and Bain helps bring people to the stretch of South Elm Street between the railroad tracks and Gate City Boulevard, adding activity to this part of downtown.
Elm and Bain proves that a building’s character can be preserved and the foundation for something new. Every event brings an opportunity for people to discover downtown Greensboro.
Happy Wednesday!
