Did you see the full moon yesterday? On Sunday night, it rose arou6:00 pm and set around 7:00 am monday morning. It seems like animals are more active on these moonlight nights. We saw a deer with her two fawns walking by the light of the moon. The above photo was taken in northwest Greensboro. We have found a couple of spots with good spots to moon watch and head to them to see the moon (and sun) low to the horizon. If you don’t mind an urban view, a good vantage point is the downtown parking decks. These crips mornings confirm that winter is knocking at our door.
It is hard to get a good iPhone moon shot. The automatic exposure system overexposes the image to make the sky bluer and it fades makes the moon look like a glowing blob (as seen in the above photo). There are ways to correct, but we usually just snap and go. If you missed this one, the next full moon will be November 24th. We missed the International Observe the Moon Night, earlier in October. The next one will be Friday, September 10, 2027. Mark your calendar and check to see if the Greensboro Astronomy Club or if the Kathleen Clay Edwards Library will host an event for this special night.
Happy Tuesday!
