As serendipity would have it, we stopped by Summerfield Farms on Sunday afternoon to soak in the ambience of people enjoying the sunshine, each other, and pumpkin decorating. Through a mutual friend, we met Adva Weinstein who is here through BAMAH, an organization that “utilizes the arts to cultivate cross-cultural connections, dismantle polarization, and encourage shared humanity. It works with Israeli artists across all disciplines, religions, backgrounds, and political persuasions.”*
A key focus of the NGO, BAMAH, is to build bridges between the Black and Jewish communities. Adva recently came from Israel to NC A&T Stae University as a visiting scholar to teach interactive performance with undergraduate students. She is currently teaching HON 485 Honors Seminar. Much of her work is related to the Nexis between art and social change. Adva is so excited to be part of the NC A&T community. She is committed to creating meaningful projects with her own students as well as with the Greensboro area community at large.
