Greensboro and Guilford County are lucky to have so many institutions of higher education. As locals, we can attend exciting sporting events free or for a nominal fee. This afternoon, the Thundering Herd of Marshall University rolled into town in their green, white, and black bus.

They competed against the Spartans tonight and the Herd won 5-1. Soccer is a dominant sport at Marshall. Their successful record in the last several years has resulted in their ability to attract players from Brazil, Germany, and Portugal. The rise in interest in soccer in Greensboro has increased over the last several years and the Spartans also have a strong team. Here is a link to their schedule. Next Tuesday (10/20/26), they will have a game in High Point, against HPU. That should be a great game to attend and it would give you a chance to see Vert Stadium. Single game tickets are $5.00. Now THAT’S a bargain.
