The Greensboro Fire Department plays an important role in community outreach. When they are not fighting fires or responding to 911 calls, firefighters make time to engage with residents and give children the opportunity to explore a firetruck and learn about how it works. Fire safety and education are also important aspects of their job.

The photo above was taken when the department was set up on East Lindsay Street in front of Mary Lynn Richardson Historic Park. Children were thrilled to see a firetruck up close and learn more about the work of firefighters. Greensboro currently has 27 fire stations, with plans to build 11 more over the next 14 years to keep pace growth. Community outreach is an important part of public service, helping organizations build connections, educate residents, and strengthen the communities they serve. The Greensboro Fire Department does it well.
