Truist Bank Building

The above photo was taken from the entrance to the Anthropologie store in Friendly Center this past Friday (9/11/26). We love the rays of light extending from the parking lot lights. We’re expectitng a superheroe to land at any minute! The photo is of the Truist Bank building. We were intrigued by the heavy equipment and work crew on the top of the building. We’re guessing there are either roof repairs, HVAC repairs, or upgrades to the communications equipment. However, we couldn’t find any records of what was being done.

The 4-story building was constructed in 2007, during the major expansion of Friendly Center. After 19 years, it isn’t unusual for work to be done. The original tenant was BB&T. In 2019, they merged with Sun Trust and were rebranded as Truist. With the 270-unit apartment complex being built on the 7-acre lot behind Whole Foods, likely a lot of people will be looking for a place to do banking- especially within walking distance. Now, we realize, we need to head over and look at the progress in the former Sears Tire Center.

Happy Wednesday!
