Yesterday…a rainbow!

Did you see the rainbow yesterday? In the afternoon, the weather in Greensboro seemed to have a mind of its own. At first, quick bursts of rain fell from the sky. And then, everything dried up quickly. We were driving near the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park and this beautiful rainbow appeared.

In case you are out chasing rainbows, to see a rainbow, you need to have the sun behind you and it needs to be raining in front of you. They are most likely to be in early morning or late afternoon. This timing for the observer to see the arc is due to the fact that the sun must be at an angle of 42 degrees or less above the horizon. We love the serendipity of seeing rainbows when we least expect them.

Happy Tuesday!
