(Sorry, subscribers, if you received this post twice. We’re still learning). Great progress is being made on Lindley Elementary School, under construction on the site of the original Lindley Elementary on Camden Road. Demolition on the original 1928 Lindley School was completed in 1925. The new school is anticipated to be completed in 2027. In the meantime, the students who are zoned to this school are attending the former Murphey Traditional Academy school at 2306 Ontario Street.
Lindley Elementary was named for John Van Mons Lindley, who was born in Indiana, but came to Greensboro to restart his father’s nursery business. He was born into a prominent Quaker family and Greensboro was the perfect place to have business ventures and to maintain a strong connection to the Quaker faith community.
Happy Wednesday and 3rd day of school in Guilford County!
