Today’s post is a little different, as we are posting 3 photos. Above, you see the three photos as thumbnails; below, you see them full size. First, is the side view of the house that now serves as the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant (PCOC). Yesterday, we shared the front of the church, the Mendenhall St. side. Today’s view is the Walker Ave. side, featuring the generous parking lot and the accessibility ramp. It faces the former PCOC building.

We do have a photo of the interior, taken through the closed front door. However, we’ve decided to hold off on that view until we can actually attend a service and get a better quality photo.

The second photo is a cornerstone on the old church. There are many prominent names on this marble tablet with church history. We’re hoping it will remain for archival purposes.

The third photo is of the original PCOC building. As the congregation grew, the building took on several lives. See HERE to open a detailed, .pdf digital version of PCOC history. The photo below captures just the northwest corner of the building that, over the years, expanded to encompass the better part of a city block. As you can see, signage has already been changed. The new congregation and leadership, Citadel of Praise Church & Campus Ministries, indicate they will be diligent stewards of the building and good neighbors. They are already making much needed interior and exterior repairs.

We challenge our readers to attend at lease one service at each church.
