In Greensboro, utility and traffic signal box art adds such a splash of color and creativity to an otherwise gray rectangular cube. Downtown Greensboro, Inc. partners with schools and student artists. The wrapped signal boxes at major intersections usually remain in place for 3 years, before being rotated out.
The above box is placed at the corner of West Washington Street and South Elm. It was produced from artwork made by Preston K. at Stokesdale Elementary. The water tower resembles the one near the PTI Airport. How sweet that Preston was thinking about peace. Young children can be very perceptive and can be concerned about very heavy topics. Thank you for your drawing Preston. Thank you for incorporating the local student community in the downtown artwork, Greensboro! Have a look if you are downtown this weekend.
Can you believe this is the last day of July?!
