The Glenn Onslow McNairy Branch Library at 4860 Lake Jeanette Road opened in 2014, replacing the former Northeast Branch that closed in 2002. Mr. McNairy (1913- 1998) was a lifelong resident of Guilford County where he was a businessman. If you visit the library, you will see that several of Mr. McNairy’s family members were lifelong educators, including his younger cousin Betty. She taught at Bessemer and Joyner Elementary Schools and died in 2023 at the age of 95.*

The theme of the McNairy Library is technology. They have a 3D printer and you can even get things printed out. Also, you can book a time to get tech help to suit your learning needs. Public libraries are our tax dollars hard at work. Look at this inviting space; there are community rooms, an interactive pirate ship for children, a coffee bar, a great selection of books and so much more. They are such a calm and peaceful place to spend time on a hot or rainy day.
