We’ve been monitoring the progress on the Biltmore Hotel, which will soon become the Orlo– named for the architect Orlo Epps. According to what we read on WFMY news, the anticipated opening date is November 1, 2026. The owner seems to be doing what he can to main a link to the past while updating the property with modern conveniences and furniture.
Yesterday, as we were walking by, we noticed the windows on the side are being replaced. It is our understanding that the historic windows in the front will remain. While there, we had a chance to talk to Nick of Eye Patch Walls. They are drywall and plaster specialists and have been getting the walls at the Hotel Orlo ready to paint. They started on the 3rd floor and are working their way down. Nick is so enthusiastic about the project. Following in his father Bill’s footsteps, Nick is knowledgeable, personable, and loves what he does.
Still remaining is the task of cutting an arch in the front so that a bar are can be installed. We can’t wait to see the completed project and experience the energy it will bring to West Washington Street.
