Friends from New Garden Friends

Today’s photo features Todd and Robin Drake who are Quakers and attend meetings at New Garden Friends. Todd taught art at Guilford College and Robin retired from Guilford County Schools where she was an autism specialist. Last week, we met them at the Friends Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They are in Albuquerque helping their son and his family relocate there.

The Albuquerque Friends Meeting began meeting in 1947 and the group has continued to grow over the last 79 years. When we were there, eight of the communal worshipers in attendance were from North Carolina. Five of the eight had attended meetings at New Garden Friends in Greensboro. Todd and Robin are committed Quakers, representing the core values of: Simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equity, and stewardship (S.P.I.C.E.S.). They’ll be back to the area before you know it. In the meantime, they are happy to have connected with the Albuquerque group. It was so wonderful to be on vacation and run into people from home.

Happy Sunday!
