This weekend, the Dock Diving Dogs took over the 300 block of South Elm Street. The sport began in 1997. It was so fun to see these dogs and their owners compete. Dogs competed for horizontal and vertical distances. Some dogs backed out and some couldn’t wait to get to launch. The above dog absolutely loved competing. Approximately 100 dogs competed over the weekend.
This is the second year in a row the amateur canine aquatics event has been held in downtown Greensboro. It is our understanding that organizers were very impressed at all the City of Greensboro did regarding event logistics. Set up and dismantling of this 4’deep 35’+ pool of water downtown was quite a feat; including ensuring that the storm drains, where the water would empty, were clean and without obstructions. Let’s hope the State games will return to Greensboro. If you are interested, start training with your canine today!
