S.O.A.R.!

At UNCG, Spartan Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) is in full swing. That is the mandatory new student orientation required for all incoming undergraduated. The above photo was taken yesterday, behind the cafeteria, as we were winding our way through campus, trying to find our way into Jackson Library. It is going through extensive renovations.

When in the library, we overhead a student complaining about having a class in the basement of the library. We wanted to chime in and say if it is Randall Jarrell Lecture Hall, to read about Randall Jarrell, the influential English professor at UNCG who was also an accomplished writer. He called UNCG “Sleeping Beauty.” As students walk their schedules and learn about the campus, they are well on their way to building memories. Good advising early on and ongoing advising through the college experience goes a long way to ensuring student success. Here’s to a great academic year to all of the students coming to Greensboro for their university experience.

(By the way, we made it to the entrance of the library and were helped by a very enthusastic and capable librarian).

Happy Wednesday!
