Yesterday, we featured a house in the College Hill neighborhood. Today, we’ve walked along Mendenhall Street, due north, across West Market Street and Friendly Avenue, landing at Westerwood Tavern. The street address if 508 Guilford Avenue. While this tavern located in Westerwood, it has only been named so in recent times. However, it has been a community watering hole for 60 years. The building was built in 1928.
While this dog friendly tavern is for 21 year olds and older, it has many community events and works hard to be seen as a gathering place for “of age” adults; it is so much more than a place to drink. To have such success over the decades, the folks at Westerwood Tavern are indeed doing something that keeps people returning. Do you have a favorite “watering hole” in Greensboro?
