Firemen are highly trained first responders. They are trained to prevent, protect, and respond to keep our community safe. People sometimes wonder what they do, until they need them and SEE what they do. They are trained to transform from partners, parents, friends, family members, community members, and neighbors into their protective gear within 60-90 seconds! The Greensboro Fire Department operates 21 firestations with about 600 employees who respond to 40,000 calls annually.*
On Saturday afternoon, May 2nd, several firetrucks and crew from different firehouses were called downtown to 212 South Elm Street to respond to an alarm at the Kress Building. Firefighters eventually went into the building. Apparently, nothing was found, as they looked around the building and then left shortly thereafter. We didn’t see anything online about what happened. However, our car was parked at the scene and we waited until the incident passed to try to leave. At that time, we were reminded of how important our firefighters are!
Happy Thursday!
