Yesterday’s Greensboro weather ranged from a low in the 20s to a high in the 60s. With so much cold weather lately, people were anxious to get back out and explore our public spaces. Above is a photo of the Visitor Center at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. We arrived a little before closing, but the sun was still shining brightly. It was glorious.
The park commemorates the Battle of Builford Courthouse, fought on March 15, 1781. This one day battle was lost by Nathanel Greene, but was the turning point of the Southern Campaign of 1780- 1781. The park features 254 acres of the battlefield. Admission is free and it is one of those places you can learn a little bit more about every time you visit. Monuments and displays in the Visitors Center are very well labeled.
Mark your calendars, the Annual Reenactment of the war will be held on March 14-15 this year. This Revolutionary War reenactment is a very special event and a great way to introduce children to local history. Hope to see you there!
Happy Wednesday!
