Last night, we were out for a stroll on Elm Street showing downtowy, local businesses some love. We learned that the location to the left of Pizzeria L’Italiano will be another location for Dear Dad’s Restaurant. We hated to see the Lao Restaurant close; however, seeing a new restaurant opening in heartwarming.

The original Dear Dad’s, located at 3929, bills itself as Mexican-American comfort food. We first featured the original location on August 15, 2024 (see HERE). Fast forward, and in less than a year and a half, they are already expanding. We hope their downtown location is as successful as the North Battleground location. Hopefully, downtown, they will impliment a text-when-your-table-is-ready policy so that patrons at the downtown location can walk and shop while they are waiting for a table. Dear Dad’s love the concept of a small space. They are easier to staff and it is better to have a restaurant that is full with a waiting list than one that looks empty.

We hope that Dear Dad’s thrives in the downtown environment in the same way they are in the North Battleground location. Look how inviting this area looks in the lights from the adjacent business. 219-A South Elm Street is about to take on a new life. See you for brunch- soon!
