Walk for Peace

We are so lucky to have experienced the monks journeying through North Carolina. The above photo was taken in Thomasville on Sunday night. People had driven from Greensboro, Charlotte, Georgia, Asheville, and even Indiana (and elsewhere) to experience their walk.

Being part of this journey is a once-in-a-lifetime memory that will be impossible to forget. Along the monks’ walk, friendships forge quickly as strangers connect while waiting to see them on their journey. The hope for peace and unity is so evident in the crowd. The venerable monks are bringing people together of all religions and walks of life.

Last night, Mayor Marikay Abuzuaiter and City Council members greeted the venerable monks. In Greensboro, January 19th has been declared ‘Walk for Peace’ Day. The monks spent the night together at Grandover Resort, resting humbly in a conference room. Today, their journey will continue. May their dream of peace prevail.

“Today is going to be my peaceful day.”
