Rev. Dr. M.L.King, Jr

Happy Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The above photo hangs at Borough Coffee in the Double Oaks House at 204 North Mendenhall Street. The coffee shop was crowded yesterday. We waited until this couch was between patrons to snap a photo. Dr. King visited Greensboro once, on 2/11/58 speaking at Bennett College. He was slated to return on 4/4/68 but cancelled and was assassinated that day in Memphis.

It is hard to believe that Dr. King accomplished so much in his 39 years on earth. How special that the Buddhist monks are slated to bring their walk for peace through Greensboro today, on the MLK holiday. Please consider attending the MLK parade today at 11:00 a.m. and then visiting the monks either in High Point or in Greensboro. It is hard to pinpoint a time, as they are walking. They are scheduled to be at Truist Stadium in High Point at 10:00 or 11:00 am. and in Greensboro at the Grandover between 5:00- 6:00 pm. True to their shunning luxury, they will sleep together on the floor of a conference room.

Happy Monday!
