All was quiet yesterday in the back room at Common Grounds at 602 South Elam Avenue. Likely by night it was a very different story. That whole back room is a playground for people who like old-school games like Air Hockey, Ms. Packman, Skeet Ball, and other treasures from the 1980s. This morning from 10:00- 1:00 pm, the Elam location will host a Saturday Morning Songwriters event, featuring Barry & Isabel, and also Doug Baker. Greensboro has so many talented musicians and songwriters. We are lucky to have venues like Common Grounds where the public can go and enjoy live music. If you head over, remember to listen, clap, and drop a little in the tip bucket. And, if you are inclined to play billiards, air hockey, or claw for prizes, that back room is waiting for you.

If you like flavored drinks, Common Grounds has some with clever names. Hanging out in Common Grounds, or one of the other many great coffee shops in Greensboro, sounds like a great idea on this drizzly, Saturday morning in August. On another note, we’re left wondering, “Who is Helen?”.
