Montagnard Dancers at World Promenade

The above photo features seven of the Montagnard dancers just before they went on stage at the World Promenade yesterday. World Promenade, formerly Parisian Promenade, is an annual festival held in Tanger Family Bicentennial Gardens. The event is co-sponsored by Greensboro Beautiful and the City of Greensboro’s Parks and Recreation Department.  There were food vendors, artists and crafters, performers, and the ever-popular pooch parade at this family and canine friendly event.

The weather was absolutely lovely yesterday and the gardens were breathtaking. While you will have to wait until the first Sunday in June 2026 to attend the World Promenade, you can head to the Bicentennial Gardens and see just how lush the gardens are as a result of all the rain and the fine care they get. The Bicentennial Gardens were established on  7 1/2 acres in 1976 in celebration of the American Bicentennial. Greensboro Beautiful had the idea and made the commitment to turn what was a flood plain area into these lovely gardens. We are so lucky to have these public gardens for all to enjoy.

We are also lucky to have groups like Montagnard Association of North Carolina, Inc., headquartered in Greensboro, who give of their time to share their cultural traditions with our ever-diversifying community. The Montagnard population in North Carolina is the largest outside of Vietnam, with approximately half of that population living in Greensboro. It is so nice seeing the younger generation carrying on the traditions of their parents and grandparents.

Happy Monday!
