Goulash 2024

Goulash 2024 was a resounding success! Goulash is a Halloween-themed event held annually. The above photo features a scene in LeBauer Park this past Saturday. Children 12 and under dressed up and high school students in the Greensboro Youth Council (GYC) volunteered to help for the day. Actually, they met and planned for the whole school year, and some students have earned 40 service learning hours preparing and volunteering for  this event. The event is a collaboration between GYC and Greensboro Downtown Parks, Inc. The Greensboro History Museum also has people who dress as historical figures for the event.

This year, there were games, inflatables, a costume contest, free candy, roaming performers, and more. To be sure, fun was had by all. Here we see two volunteers helping Dorothy pick out just the right piece of candy with mom watching on. The event was so well orchestrated and is an example of one of the many, many free community events held in downtown Greensboro. GYC  also runs a Santa’s Workshop Toy Drive and there may still be time to get involved. (See HERE). Between Trunk-or-Treats, Goulash, and other community events, costumes get plenty of opportunities to be worn, even for those who don’t go door-to-door. And for those of you out tonight, Happy Halloween!
