We have never had the good fortune to meet Gary Jobe, one of Greensboro’s premier custom home builders. However, we have seen many of the homes he has built. He is a third generation custom home builder and has had a tradition of excellence since 1972. After five decades, he is retiring. While the name, Gary Jobe Builder will remain in place, Todd Powely is now President of the company. 

While out bicycling a few weeks ago, we stopped at Latham Park for a water break and noticed this office. How impressive that a person who has one of the most recognizable names in construction in the area has a humble office with no fancy fanfare. After all, we’re wondering just how much time he actually spends in the office. We imagine he is out on the job or out overseeing that work is being done correctly. One very memorable complex that he built is on Stanley Huff Road. Apparently, the owners even have a helicopter pad on the property. To be sure, the next time we undertake an A-Z people of Greensboro, we’ll try for “J” is for “Jobe”!
