Church is Community, Fellowship, Worship, Blood Drives, and More

Morehead United Methodist Church on Horse Pen Creek Road (by the Y) is a dynamic church that has lots of events to engage the community. Recently, they held a blood drive, compete with red balloons and the drop-of-blood mascot. Tomorrow, from 5:30- 8:00, they are having a Monday Music Block Party with music by the Apple Pie String Band and Marty’s BBQ Food Truck. They will continue these block parties all through May. So, if you aren’t able to make it to church for a service today, or if you are interested in learning more about this church and meeting some of the people who attend, stop by one of the Monday afternoon events.

The Morehead UMC building of today was constructed in 1970. However, the congregation dates to 1888 and the property where the church is built was the site of the Piney Grove School, which Morehead UMC used as a sanctuary for 45 years. Be careful if you are on Horse Pen Creek Road as the lanes have been shifting while the road gets widened. Please In the end, all of the construction will have been worth it.

Happy Sunday; may your day be spent in a way that brings you happiness.
