Piedmont Old-Time Society

Since Horigan’s House of Taps close in downtown Greensboro earlier this month, the Piedmont Old-Time Society has been looking for a new location to jam. Currently, they are meeting in members’ homes until a new location is found

Tonight, they will be busy sharing their music at First Friday with the goal of spreading old-time fiddle and banjo, string-band music. This genre of music dates back generations in North Carolina, before phones, electricity, and even cars! If you see the group on Elm Street tonight, ask them about the Piedmont One Mike Acoustic Convention (POMAC) in Franklinville the first weekend of May. This is a festival where you can hear others play and, better yet, jam with people yourself. There are so many opportunities to be around music in Greensboro and the neighboring counties.

In the meantime, if you have any ideas as to where some great old-time musicians can gather to play music in Greensboro, send us a message.
