The 14th annual Greensboro Pride Festival was held this past weekend, downtown. It is an important event to support and celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer + community of Greensboro. The event also helps foster self-acceptance of the diverse ways of being in our community.
From small children supporting their parents to corporations supporting employees, most who attended the festival would agree there were many important resources, fun activities, and great opportunities to waive the rainbow flag and be an integral part of a caring community. If you work with teenagers today, you will notice that one of the first things they ask as they are getting to know each other is, “How do you identify.” Events like Sunday’s Pride Festival create a safe space for celebrating how they identify.
Fall is a time when most organizations host events and it is almost impossible to attend everything. Today’s photo was taken last year during the Pride Festival and features “Pride of the Pride” which is Greensboro College’s LGBTQ+/Straight Alliance.
