BIRD Scooters Land in Greensboro

The sharable scooter craze has hit Greensboro. It seems that as quickly as the bikes for rent hit Greensboro, they’ve been replaced by dockless, electric scooters. The self-moving scooters are small, efficient, and don’t require human pedaling. Apparently, they arrived without permission and, aren’t allowed to be downtown or on the streets. City officials and scooter upstart companies are all scrambling to figure out what should and shouldn’t be allowed to keep people safe on these vehicles. Not only BIRD, but many companies are trying to get into the scooter business.* So far, BIRD is in Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem.

The above BIRD landed behind the Weatherspoon Museum at Tate Street on the campus at UNCG. Just beyond the gate, in the museum’s courtyard, another vehicle is on the move. Do you see it? Wonder what mode of transportation will be in style when this young tyke is college age. In the meantime, wonder what is happening to all the bicycles…
