Downtown Greensboro may actually be a little quiet today as the city prepares to transform into one giant folk festival. The first, annual North Carolina Folk Festival begins this Friday and, Greensboro’s streets and downtown parks are in the process of transforming into a giant, open-air venue. Our city will fill with some of the best folk musicians in the world. Today, let us give thanks for the labor movement, for the rights of children to be children and not have to work alongside their parents in factories. Let us plan to get as many children as possible to the folk festival, so that they can see first-hand, the magic of a community when people come together and volunteer for events like the NC Folk Festival. For Greensboro, Labor Day reminds us that the greatest music event of the year is about to begin!
