International Festival at UNCG

A couple of Saturdays ago, UNCG held their 36th annual international festival. In the above photo, the Vietnamese dancers were performing on the lawn in front of the student union. Many nationalities are represented at the festival, and all of them bring information and artifacts from their respective countries. With six colleges and universities in Greensboro and Guilford County, as well as all of the branches of the community college, locals are fortunate to have the opportunity to interact with people from around the world. The more we learn about and have positive experiences with each other, the better the chances are that we will live together peacefully.

A big thank you to the coordinators of UNCGs international festival and to all of the students who took time out of their busy  academic schedules to bring their cultures alive. When we least expect it, we are making a difference. If you missed the above festival, the Central Branch of the Greensboro Public Library, and their community partners,  will host “The Day of Children/The Day of Books.” While the emphasis is on literacy in general and hispanic culture, it will be a day of bilingual fun for everyone.*
