Eaton Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is located on Highway 150 between Oak Ridge and Kernersville. According to Buzzfile, they have been operating for approximately 40 years and they operate primarily as a tobacco farm. However, if you drive by in the springtime, they are growing strawberries. We aren’t sure what the above crop is as it is too late for pumpkins, which are already on store shelves. Maybe it is a cold weather crop like greens. At first glance, driving by quickly, the rows, of slightly raised beds, looked like fields of lavender. The barn in the background, with the plywood pumpkin prominently displayed, is the first stop for shoppers and visitors.

We’ll have to stop back when the maze is in full swing. The popularity of “breakout” games, where teams of people work together to break out of places by solving clues, will likely add to the frenzy for groups to try their luck at corn mazes. Corn mazes and pumpkin patches can generate great revenue for farms by attracting tourists and people who would not otherwise go to a farm. Being outside is such a healthy activity for people- if you can encourage them not to use their phones, but to enjoy all that is to be seen in nature.
