The above photo, a tray of kiwi and plums, is a view of the front table at Jerusalem Market Restaurant on South Elm Street. Jerusalem Market opened about a year ago, an off-shoot of the original market on Gate City Boulevard near Sedgefield.* Sitting at Jerusalem Market sipping iced Hibiscus Tea and eating lamb or air-dried beef, it is as if you are in the Middle East, right here in Greensboro. The map of Jerusalem on the exposed-brick walls and the copper tray of fruit also add to the ambience. 

It can be nice to attend a church, synagogue, or mosque or other religious center to nurture one’s spirituality; however sometimes, stealing a few minutes of solitude, in a calm and inviting place, can also nurture the soul. Yesterday, we found ourselves lost in meditation, right there on Elm Street, and then, the food arrived at the table and the restaurant started to fill up. The food, prepared in the style of Old Jerusalem, with fresh vegetables and exotic spices, not only filled us up, but seemed to nurture the soul. Have a great Sunday and, as fall approaches, we hope you find a little time to relax, reflect, and refuel.
