Patika Starr was one of the many performers at the Parisian Promenade yesterday; seen above, promenading through Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, high above the crowd on stilts. Patika makes walking on stilts, and standing still on stilts, look as easy as resting on a park bench. Everyone wanted a photo with her and she was more than happy to accommodate. Patika and the other performers (the man walking through the park playing the organ, the mime, the aerial dancers, and the MC at the Poodle Parade to name a few) keep attendees coming back to the Promenade every year. These public performers definitely work hard.

You may recognize Patika from her fire dancing routine at the Summer Solstice or from the annual Mardi Gras event at Castle McCulloch in High Point, or perhaps from her participation in Greensboro’s First Friday events. Then again, you may not recognize her, because she rarely looks the same twice. Her costume closet must be the size of a house. If you are looking for a performing artist, who is sure to be a crowd pleaser, look up Patika on social media. We will feature some of the other entertainers from Promenade throughout the week.

The Parisian Promenade is one of Greensboro’s free public events that signals the start of summer. It comes at a perfect time as most schools are still in session (but winding down) and so people are still in town.
