Pie Baking Contest

, , ,

A pie baking contest was held at the Fall Festival at Providence Presbyterian Church on Lake Brandt Road this past weekend. Having the contest is a way to recognize the efforts of the church members who bring something for the sweet course at the end of the meal. It also encourages people to bake and not just purchase items. The above photo shows several of the fifty pies prepared. Pies were judged from 1 to 5 on: Presentation, Taste, Creativity, and being Memorable. We weren’t privy to the pie judging room, so we don’t know the results. Below, you can see a few closeups. The pie with the orange and brown crust earned points for creativity with us. What is your favorite fall pie?

Foursquare published a list of 15 places to get good pie in Greensboro (here). Yelp offers a very different assortment of places to go for pie in Greensboro (here). We’re not sure how they arrived at their lists, but it is a good place to start if you are in the mood for pie. If you have any suggestions, let us know. As for us, we’re going to see if we can get on the list of judges at Providence next year!
