In Greensboro, spring, or, porch time, is upon us. Front porches invite company and are an opportunity for great fellowship. This porch is located on Spring Garden Street, near Joyner Street and downtown. the log table is very creative and the orange painted furniture and orange columns add symmetry to the scene. Most of the houses in Greensboro’s older neighborhoods, near downtown, have porches. They predate backyard decks as a place for people to gather. The above porch is in College Hill where inviting front porches are a way of life.

Settled in the mid-1800’s, College Hill was Greensboro’s first neighborhood. The above home may not be as elegant as the Queen Anne-style homes in the neighborhood, but is has the great energy of the students’ homes and residents who enjoy the company of others.
