The intersection of Market and Elm Streets is the one that splits Greensboro’s streets into north/south and east/west. Our city radiates out from this spot. At the corner of Market and Elm, an historic marker reminds us of the Greensboro Law School that was once near here. While the view from ground level is not particularly a stand-out, it is one that sees a lot of traffic, by day, on the weekends, and after church. At the moment, there is considerable construction on the east side of this intersection- just beyond the camera’s view.

In the above photo, you see a runner, who was running in last night’s 70 degree weather. Out of view are the holiday snowflakes that still adorn Elm Street. As we walked along West Market Street yesterday, we saw people voting early. As we walked along Elm Street last night, we were struck by the fact that at 7:45 p.m. many of the businesses were hopping. Mack & Mack had people inside, Cheesecakes by Alex was crowded. People were hanging out at Scuppernong books. It seems that downtown no longer closes at 5:00 p.m.
