Greensboro is becoming quite the bike riding town. The above photo features cyclists heading north at the 300 block of South Elm Street. They were turning left on Washington Street near the News and Record. The building they are passing, 301 S. Elm Street, was built in 1927 and originally housed the Greensboro Bank and Trust Company. The part of the building that you see is made from terra cotta, scored to look like stone. * As you can read on the awning, it now houses a high tech business. Those are the fun things you notice while on a bike ride (or when photographing others on a bike ride).

There are many cycling clubs in Greensboro and most bike shops help you access rides at all ability levels. There is a group called Bicycling in Greensboro, and the City maintains an urban area bicycling map (here). May is National Bike Month, so once we get past this cold snap, perhaps we can all get back out on the trails. We’re betting the above crew is out on a ride this weekend, anyway.
