Urban walks are so much fun. Yesterday, we were walking around downtown at sunset and spied the alley behind P&B Java and Elsewhere Museum, just off the 600 block of South Elm Street. There is a lot of construction at the building on the corner of Lewis Street and South Elm Street. With the concrete trucks spinning and workers on site, we were the only pedestrians in the area. Walking the alley, we first found a space maintained by the Greensboro Permaculture Guild. When admiring their garden, we looked up and saw this beautiful sign on the back of Elsewhere Museum. Imagine after a long day of teaching and attending meetings, looking up and seeing an all-caps sign (shouting in the font world) I LOVE YOUR WORK. We decided that tomorrow, we are going to say to students, when it is most meaningful and needed, I LOVE YOUR WORK. When is the last time you said that to someone? When is the last time someone said it to you? Hopefully, it was recently. Such is the serendipity of taking an urban walk, in Greensboro, at the end of the day.

Today is a brand new round of ABC Wednesday. Every time, we say we are going to skip a round, we get inspired to continue. What better way is there to approach photographing and documenting your city than working through the alphabet? So, for today, we offer up, “A” is for alley.
