Greensboro's Baha'i Faith

The Spiritual Assembly of Baha’i is located on Lawndale Avenue, just down from the Greensboro Science Center and backing up to Country Park. The religion was founded in 1844 in Iran, with its core principles being the unity of God, religion, and humanity. The Baha’i faith celebrates diversity of race and culture and are welcoming to people of all backgrounds. According to their Greensboro Facebook page, there are 5 million adherents worldwide and approximately 164,000 members in the United States. They don’t have clergy in the Faith but operate through a system of elected councils. The Greensboro group was founded in 1943.

We would love to talk to people practicing the Baha’i Faith, locally, in the early years. Seventy years ago, there was significantly less religious diversity in Greensboro. To have a faith with roots in Persia took great conviction in a community that was predominantly Christian.
