
As Banned Books Week 2014 comes to a close, we headed to Scuppernong Books on at 304 South Elm Street to see their display. From the CSI tape in the front window to the display in the front of the store, they did not disappoint. The American Libraries ASsociation supports the freedom to choose what one reads. Some people believe that people should have the power to self regulate and to deside on one’s own what is appropriate reading material. Others, believe that we should restrict or eliminate access. One person’s literature is another’s trash.
Sadly, as a society, we’ll have to work hard to keep people reading paper and ink books, period! In the meantime, Greensboro has great libraries and bookstores to keep the printed word in circulation. Happy Weekend Reflections, dear readers. What have you read lately?
