Walking south on Greene Street, just beyond the Carolina Theatre, this view opens up. 100 Police Plaza is the new city building that houses the Police Records & Central Operations Center. It is open 24 hours. The services provided at this site include: Police reports, tow releases, warrants, subpeonas, watch operations, the telephone response unit, and child safety seat inspections.
While the police chief’s office is a couple of blocks over at 300 W. Washington St., Chief Ken Miller is very involved in watch operations which seem to be housed here. While he has announced his retirement, Chief Miller is committed to seeing through the neighbor-oriented policing (NOP) program.* It will be interesting to follow the NOP program.
The above view is very attractive, as is the building. Our police department, all 785 sworn and non-sworn employees, deserve a nice place to work and 100 Police Plaza is just that place.
