The Greensboro Inn is gone. D.H. Griffin demolition has worked their wrecking-ball magic and all that is left of the three story motel across the street from the Greensboro Historical Museum and the Wrangler Headquarters. They are making way for the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts (see plans, here). Construction will be underway for approximately 18 months and the facility should open in 2016. The 63 million-dollar center will will be designed by the H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture firm will design it, with Atlanta-based Rosser International, Inc. will serve as the project’s lead architect. Rosser designed Greensboro’s ACC Hall of Champions and the Greensboro Aquatic Center (reference). Let’s hope that G-PAC becomes a D-PAC, west and that our community can support even more preformance arts events. Greensboro is changing before our eyes! Seems like it is time to dive in and embrace the change.
