Earlier this month, The National Conference for Community and Justice named Mr. Quaintance as the 2011 recipient of the 45th Annual Brotherhood/Sisterhood Citation Award for his ongoing efforts to respect the inherent worth and dignity of people of all backgrounds. Mr. Quaintance attributes his passion for equality to early childhood when he saw his mother endure gender bias.
Having lived in Greensboro since 1978, Mr. Quaintance is an integral part of the fabric of our community. His hard work and collaborative efforts, between wife Nancy and business partner Mike Weaver, enhance our community in so many ways: The O. Henry Hotel, Proximity Hotel, Printworks Bistro, Green Valley Grill, Lucky 32 Restaurant, to name a few. From his humble beginnings as a housekeeper’s assistant in a Montana hotel at age 15 to his rise to the presidency of Quaintance-Weaver, Mr. Quaintance has worked hard every step of the way.
Today is ABC Wednesday and, for our People of Greensboro series, Q is for Quaintance. See earlier entries here.
