Vespers at Christ United

“Vespers” comes from Latin, meaning “evening.” While Christ United Methodist Church might not actually call their evening services “vespers,” the term evokes a warmth and coming together of believers to celebrate their religion. In addition to prayers, vespers often include song.

Christ United on Holden Road is one of those large, Greensboro churches that seems to extend for a city block.  The above photo captures the new youth center in the back of the building. At dusk, the golden glow of the light and the translucent, blue glass cross are inviting. Imagine a tired, weary traveler happening upon this beautiful site….. Divine…..  Have yourself a great Sunday, and if you are religious, have yourself a Sacred Sunday. We’ve got about three years worth of religious Sundays  here. For a nice North Carolina vespers service, we’ve linked to this one at Duke University Chapel. We need to warn you, while fabulous, it is 35 minutes long. Time permitting, you are invited to “attend.”
