
Brightwood Inn Family Style Restaurant is located at 6501 Burlington Road, east of Greensboro. While still a rural restaurant and lounge, it is an oasis of the past, the way Burlington Road used to be. New construction is all around. There is the Brightwood Farm Subdivision, the Brightwood Eye Center, Brightwood Self Storage, Brightwood Crossing Apartments; however, Brightwood Restaurant with its awnings and neon signs has been lighting up Whitsett since before many of the new residents were born.
This mom and pop establishment is where Elvis Presley once dined. The original booth is still in use. Stop in to this time-warp establishment and order up a plate of nostalgia with your sizzling steak and fries. (Read the one review we were able to find here). And don’t get the wrong impression about the little dose of southern humor, a sign on the “couples only” side that reads, “no entrance, no shirt, if locked, knock hard.” In searching the internet, it seems that this fabulous place needs a little more publicity. Then again, maybe the owners are happy just the way things are now. We’ll have to head back out and ask.
