Situated at the point where Yanceyville switches from street to road and between a collapsed outbuilding and new construction, JP Food Mart is literally at the crossroads of old and new. The store has been around since, well, as long as anyone working there can remember. For the last decade, a husband and wife team from Nepal have owned the store, naming it JP after his and her first initial.
JP Food Mart sells typical convenience store goods with a better stock of staple foods than many corner stores. It is not uncommon for locals to walk there– down Yanceville– using JP Food Mart as their community grocery store. Inside you will find the original wooden floors and storage shelves from bygone years among modern conveniences like lottery tickets and an ATM machine. The rectangular brick façade in reminiscent of country stores from the mid-20th century and before, often giving the front a larger and sturdier appearance than the rest of the building.
