Today is ABC Wednesday and “Y” is for Yanceyville Street. Yanceyville Street starts in southeast Greensboro at the intersection of Lindsay Street, between the Yanceyville Curb Market and War Memorial Stadium. The street heads north towards the Caswell County town of Yanceyville. When Yanceyville crosses Pisgah Church Road, it becomes Yanceyville Road, crosses Lake Townsend, and eventually makes a 90 degree turn towards its end point at Highway 150 between Summerfield and Brown Summit.
The house in the above photo is on the northern end of Yanceville where houses are newer, larger, and more reflective of the economic prosperity of the late 1990’s and the early years of 2000. This home is estate-like, complete with a tile roof, a stucco exterior & well-maintained grapevines. While there are 16 streets in Greensboro starting with the letter “Y,” Yanceyville was an easy choice for today. The street is 12 miles long from Highway 150 to Lindsay Street– PLENTY to choose from. It passes not only the farmer’s market and the stadium mentioned above, but also the Aycock Historic District, textile mills, White Oak community, Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Biscuitville’s corporate headquarters, the Billy “Crash” Craddock bridge, and so much more. Keep checking back over the summer as we have many more photos from Yanceyville Street to feature. Lots of surprises on this road!
