Here we see a view of the Sun Trust Building at the corner of Green Valley and Benjamin Parkway. Sun Trust is a financial services institution, based in Atlanta with branches in North Carolina. However, we’re posting the photo to show a busy section of Benjamin Parkway. The parkway extends from Battleground Avenue, going over Wendover Avenue, and turning at Bryan Boulevard to Holden Road and back to Battleground again.

The Benjamins were a prominent Greensboro family. Mrs. Benjamin was a Sternberger and connected to the early cotton mill history of Greensboro. Mr Benjamin was a Harvard educated businessman originally from New Orleans. Together, the Benjamins formed the Starmount Company and owned a considerable amount of land in Northwest Greensboro, developing Friendly Shopping Center, the Starmount Country Club and several nice neighborhoods in Northwest Greensboro. It had such sentimental value to the family, the family home got relocated as businesses were built around it. The Benjamins have done so much for the Greensboro community, their name deserves to be remembered for a very long time.
